Weight Loss RX Guide is a publication of Ridgeline Media Group LLC. This policy explains what information we collect when you visit our site, what we do with it, and what rights you have over it.
We have tried to write this in plain English. If anything is unclear, write to us at ridgelinemediagroupllc@gmail.com.
Who we are
Weight Loss RX Guide is published by Ridgeline Media Group LLC, a Florida limited liability company. When this policy says “we,” “us,” or “our,” that is who we are talking about. When we say “you,” we mean any person who visits the site.
What information we collect
We collect three kinds of information.
Information you give us. If you sign up for our email list, contact us via our contact form, or send us an email, we collect what you give us. That typically means your email address and, depending on what you send us, your name and the contents of your message.
Information collected automatically. When you visit the site, our hosting provider, WordPress, and the caching software we use automatically log certain technical information. This includes your IP address, the type of browser and device you are using, the pages you visit on our site, the time and date of your visit, and the website that referred you to us (if any). This is standard for almost every website on the internet and is necessary for the site to function.
Information from analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our site. Google Analytics collects information like which pages are popular, how long people stay on a page, and what country or region visitors come from. This information is aggregated and anonymized — we cannot identify individual readers from analytics data. Google’s own privacy practices govern how they handle this data, and you can read about them at policies.google.com/privacy.
What we do with this information
We use the information we collect for these purposes:
- To operate the site, deliver pages to your browser, and keep things running
- To respond to questions, comments, or concerns you send us
- To send you our email newsletter, if you have signed up for it, and to manage your subscription
- To understand how readers use the site so we can improve our content
- To comply with legal obligations and protect against fraud or abuse
We do not sell your information. We do not rent your information. We do not share your information with advertisers as a product.
Who else might see this information
A few companies help us run the site, and they may have access to certain information to do their jobs. These include:
- Our hosting provider (Hostinger), which stores the technical data needed to serve the website
- Google Analytics, which processes anonymized usage data on our behalf
- Our email service provider (TBD as of this writing), which stores email addresses for subscribers and sends our newsletter when we send one
- Affiliate networks, which may track when you click an affiliate link from our site to a partner site. The affiliate network’s own privacy policy governs what happens after you leave our site.
Each of these companies has its own privacy policy, and they are bound by those policies and applicable law to handle data responsibly.
We may also disclose information if we are legally required to (such as in response to a subpoena or court order), if we believe it is necessary to protect against harm or fraud, or if Ridgeline Media Group LLC is ever sold or merged with another company. If a sale or merger happens, we will let our email subscribers know.
Cookies
A cookie is a small text file stored on your device by your browser when you visit a website. Cookies allow websites to remember things between page loads or visits.
We use a few kinds of cookies:
- Essential cookies that are necessary for the site to function. These are set by WordPress and our caching software. Without them, the site does not work.
- Analytics cookies set by Google Analytics, which help us understand site usage.
- Affiliate tracking cookies set by affiliate networks when you click an affiliate link. These help the affiliate network credit us if you make a purchase.
Most browsers let you control or disable cookies through their settings. If you disable cookies, parts of the site may not work as expected.
Your rights
You have rights over the information we hold about you. These rights vary depending on where you live.
If you are a California resident
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), you have the right to:
- Know what personal information we have collected about you
- Know whether we have sold or shared your personal information (we have not)
- Request that we delete personal information we have collected about you
- Correct inaccurate personal information we have about you
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information (we do not sell or share it)
- Not be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights
To exercise any of these rights, write to us at ridgelinemediagroupllc@gmail.com. We will respond within 45 days. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling certain requests, especially deletion requests, to make sure we are not handing your data to someone pretending to be you.
If you are in the European Union or United Kingdom
Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and UK GDPR, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate personal data
- Request deletion of your personal data
- Restrict or object to processing of your personal data
- Receive your personal data in a portable format
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority
To exercise these rights, write to us at ridgelinemediagroupllc@gmail.com. We will respond within 30 days.
Our legal basis for processing your data is typically either your consent (when you sign up for our email list) or our legitimate interest in operating and improving the site (for analytics and technical operation).
Data retention
We keep your information only as long as we need it.
- Email subscriber information is kept as long as you are subscribed. If you unsubscribe, we remove your email from active mailing lists, but we may retain a record that you unsubscribed so we do not accidentally re-add you.
- Contact form submissions and email correspondence are kept for as long as is reasonably necessary to respond to your inquiry and for our records, typically up to two years.
- Analytics data is retained according to Google’s retention settings, which we have set to the shortest available period.
- Technical logs are kept for a short period (typically 30 to 90 days) for security and troubleshooting purposes.
Children’s privacy
Weight Loss RX Guide is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child under 13, write to us and we will delete it.
Security
We take reasonable measures to protect the information we hold. Our site is served over HTTPS, our hosting provider maintains industry-standard security practices, and we limit access to personal information to people who need it for legitimate business purposes. That said, no method of transmitting data over the internet is 100% secure. We cannot promise absolute security, only that we will take reasonable steps to protect what you share with us.
Links to other sites
Our site contains links to other websites, including affiliate partners and sources we cite. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites. When you click a link to an external site, that site’s privacy policy governs how your information is handled there. If a link takes you to a healthcare provider, pharmacy, or insurance site, you may want to review their privacy practices, which are often more detailed because of the sensitive nature of their data.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time as our practices change or as required by law. When we make significant changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. For material changes, we will also post a notice on the site or send an email to subscribers (if applicable).
We recommend checking this page periodically.
